Site Readers: Volunteers, in teams of two, read books aloud from an assigned curriculum to small groups of pre-kindergarten children in the preschool setting. Each team reads once a month, therefore volunteers are asked to commit to one visit each month for an entire school year. As space allows, volunteers may sign up with a partners, otherwise one will be provided for them. Time Commitment: Volunteers commit to reading at a specific site on a specific day (e.g. second Tuesday of the month) once each month during the school year for a total of eight visits. Read aloud sessions take place in the morning and last approximately two hours. All volunteers are also required to attend a two hour training and orientation in September, before the start of the school year. You may be asked to attend training sessions to foster your development as volunteer, however such trainings are not mandatory. A TB test is required to volunteer with this program.
