Art and Literacy Event
Join Words Alive and the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity in celebrating Presence: an invitation to be your creative and authentic self. On June 6, 2017 from 6-8pm we will be showing the work that our Adolescent Book Group (ABG) students are completing during our four-month Art and Literacy Program at the Chuck Jones Gallery in downtown San Diego. This year, students will create their own stop-motion animation film as a culmination of book discussion, written reflection, and art.
Art and Literacy Program
More than 300 students from the Juvenile Court & Community Schools will be participating in the Words Alive four-month Art and Literacy Program. Students will be reading select texts in their regular Adolescent Book Group (ABG) program sessions and then will have an opportunity to look at literacy through a different lens and find meaningful relationships with the text they are reading, the world around them, and a form of art they create.
