Introduction to Mindfulness

These are difficult and challenging times. Schools are closed, school work is being done from home, and we are isolated from our friends.  It's unprecedented. Like you, we too, are feeling much of the stress, anxiety and overwhelm that comes with this time of uncertainty. And, like many of you, we’re doing our best to stay positive, even have some fun, while creating a healthy “new normal.” 

Now, more than ever, we are so grateful to have our mindfulness practices to help ground us in the present moment, manage our stress and anxiety, as well as find gratitude and joy, even in these challenging times.

So, with this in mind, we will be offering some simple, practical, tried-and-true mindfulness tools and practices to help you calm the chaos and ground in the present moment, as best as you can. Think of it as “mindfulness for uncertain times.”

Journal Prompt: First, think about some times that you reacted in a way you now regret. Now choose one situation to write about. What was the situation? What was your reaction? Be sure to use as many details as possible to describe your reaction. How did your body feel as you were reacting? Did you recognize your feelings in the moment? What would you do differently next time?
