words alive programs

EARLY CHILDHOOD SERVICES

Words Alive serves San Diego County pre-school age children through integrated Early Childhood programs which include Early Literacy Intervention, Read-to-Me Workshops, the administration of the nationally recognized Raising-a-Reader program and partners with the San Diego Unified School District, Neighborhood House, Head Start and others.

TEEN SERVICES

Words Alive provides essential literacy services to San Diego County's teen population aged junior to senior in high school and early college through our flagship Adolescent Book Group program and the Westreich Scholarship. Partnering with the San Diego County Office of Education, the Juvenile Court & Community Schools and several local colleges and universities, Words Alive creates opportunities for these teens to realize academic and social success.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

Words Alive partners with community organizations in the development, facilitation and administration of important literacy-based programs. Building libraries, donating books, conducting workshops, training community leaders and partnering with organizations such as the East County Health and Human Services, Neighborhood for Kids Incredible Families programs ensures that literacy is a key component in building strong communities.
